This year is actually one of many anniversaries, amongst them the 60th anniversary of the re-opening of St. Mary's Church in the city centre after it was destroyed in the blitz, but more of that tomorrow.
Tonight we attended a concert put on by the church as part of their birthday celebrations. It was delivered by the fabulous Morriston Orpheus Choir, directed by Joy Amman Davies and accompanied by Kieron-Connor Valentine, a counter-tenor who won the MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year last October.
It was an intimate concert with some outstanding music, ironically finishing with a rendition of 'You'll never walk alone' just as Liverpool were winning the European Championship in Madrid.
